Synchronized Production
COMPONENT 02 / 06
Stronger livelihoods for women.
COMPONENT 02 / 06
The APC programme adopts a synchronised, cluster-based,
market-oriented production approach to enhance the
productivity and income of smallholder women farmers.
High-value crops are systematically selected based on
farmers’ suitability, agro-ecological conditions and
market demand. Common nurseries or entrepreneur-led
nurseries ensure the timely availability of quality
seedlings, while synchronised, batch-wise planting helps
coordinate production and generate marketable surpluses.
Productivity is further enhanced through improved
technologies and appropriate crop-management practices,
alongside the promotion of Non-Pesticide Management, with
a target of covering 40% of participating farmers. Crop
sowing and planting are strategically scheduled to align
harvesting with favourable market windows and improve
price realisation. These interventions, combined with
efforts to bring traders and buyers directly to farmers’
doorsteps, strengthen collective marketing, reduce
transaction costs and improve market access and returns
for women smallholders.
